Default Calling all survivors

Ok folks, I am about to start my 17th try for the Survivor Title. I have tried with 4 Warriors, 3 Monks, 2 Rangers, 2 Dervs, 3 Eles, 2 Necros. The highest level reached so far has been 14 & approx 50% with a warrior. What class and what chapters did you use to reach your Survivor Title? Did you play thru each mission and quest, as I have been trying to do, or did you find another way? Not really looking for builds, but more for how you did it.

I have reached level 1 Survivor on 4 characters ans level 2 on 2 characters only to have them owned by Shiro in the Gate of Madness . Easiest one would have had to be my Ele...Started in Cantha and 4 hours later She was a Survivor, have a screenshot that I will post later tonight after work...My others were A Ritualist (Level 2) Dervish (Level 2), Basically D/E with Stoneflesh Aura, Armour of the Earth, Vital Boon, Mystic Regen worked very nice tanked Shiro to about 1/4 Health the SV Kinda was pointless...Monk also easy Prot Spirit FTW (lvl 1)...Did all with Henchies and Heros, just remember to try and not Basically to be the first to aggro and dont over Aggro....Almost Died a couple times in HardMode on my Dervish due to over Aggroing...

Another hint is to know what you are going up against, wether it be Mostly Melee Characters, or Spellcasters I.E Shatter Enchatment is a big one, Chilibans hurts as well...Also look at the Survivor Guide that is somewhere on Guru....any questions pm me IGN Sergeant Of Marines...

I made a Monk in Prophecies.
1. Did every quest (including each profession specific quest) in Pre-searing.
2. Did every quest, Mission & Bonus up to LA. and up to Aurora Glade using Henchies.
3. Went to Nightfall and got most of Heros and did Masters missions up to somewhere in Vabbi
4. Went to cantha and took advantage of all of the 3k XP quests around the city.
5. Got guildies & friends to help with the bonuses in the Desert missions.
6. Made sure I knew how to beat my doppleganger by trying out the build I was going to use (TY, guildwiki) with a different character first.
7. Took advantage of a Double XP skill cap weekend.
8. Used lots of scrolls running the LB point farming spot in Mirror of Lyss.

I DID NOT:
1. Stick around for the PvP battle when going to the acadamy, I logged out right after the gates opened.
2. Go into any mission / quest without checking for possible problems.
3. Do any cantha missions - Didn't take the chance that the visunah square mission bug would get me.
4. Do anything with PUGs (even though I normally have no reservations about using PUGS)
5. Die.

Is there any particular reason why you couldn't just flag the hench/hero to where they need to fight and have them do it? There are VERY few missions in Elona that this wouldn't work on and you only need to get to the wurms - then I *know* you can do it from there on out as I normally farm LB/SS points that way.

Especially true if you have enough unlocks, gold, and weapons to fully equip your heroes.

As to how fast this is - probably not too fast. But then, survivor never was one of those "speed" titles as far as I could tell.

*shrug* dunno - the title always seems like to much effort on my end, I can be somewhat suicidal and tend to not pay a whole lot of attention when I play (I watch TV at the same time). The hench don't complain and I enjoy it. I didn't notice that my paragon was about 5000 exp away from it when she died for the first time or I would have made an effort to get it, but then the only reason she made it that far was that she was the fourth character through Elona and I knew what I was doing. Nothing secret there, just a much better player than before and more unlocks for professions I rarely play (better heroes).

Easiest profession for Survivor: Paragon.

Why? Because they have the same armour as a warrior (minus the 20 vs physical) and are ranged attackers with protective skills.

I've currently got my paragon very close to Tier 2. However, I did get my paragon "run" to Consulate docks when she was level 14, just to be safe.

Also as a paragon, [wiki]Mending Refrain[/wiki] is your friend.

Personal anecdote - don't try your luck at any Air/Fire Ele, Channeling Rit, or Assassin bosses in Factions or Nightfall. Especially Kenshi Steelhand. He's the reason for my Ranger stuck at the first tier...

There's alot of good advice here, but once you've gotten a monk to level 18 in Prophechies and then lost Survivor due to server lag you'll never try again. (At least I wont). In my opinion the most useless title in the game... there is no skill that can protect against a disconnect, and that usually = death.

A nice fellow monk can help u alot. My guildie is almost 3rd tier survivor in which i contributed quite a bit. We take a human monk (me prot), a healersboon monk dunk, and another prot that complements me. It may seem a lot, as a base, but u can reliably engage most if not all missions. He has finished Elona and tyria, now he justs need a bit in cantha to get his last tier, though at some point farming SS and LB in the easy quest in desolation will od fine too. He has a warrior, but at some points I had him stand away, like with shiro in gates of madness or against the mad god in which he played LoD monk ^^.

Another hint, equip health boosting items, you get attacked a lot less, and therfor are much less likely to be attacked, try not to use superior runes. They are really not needed.

Bottomline is better be on the safe side and enjoy, then endless repetitive farming. A good buddy, and some decent knowledge about your enemies will help so much to prepare well.

Unfortunately i will never be able to reach survivor as my char was born too early, but maybe one day ill delete and try one.

Thanks for the input so far. I have not played a Paragon yet. May be the route to take.

I have quite a bit unlocked for Warrior, Monk, Ranger, and Elementalists. Mostly from Prophesies, a few from Factions, and several from Nightfall.

I did find the Survivor Guide on Wiki too. Some helpful info there too.

I went ahead and started another Ranger in NF, got thru the first mission, then used a shortcut I found out about in here and got max Canthan armor at level 3. Got a few scrolls in my Guild Hall, had forgotten about the scrolls. As I aquire my heros, I will raid some of my other heros for weapons and possibly runes.

Would be interesting to see if anyone has a Warrior as a Survivor.

Thanks again for your input.

Edit:
Someone posted as I did about the warrior. Cool!

i recently got legendary survivor on my dervish. i used LOTS of scrolls. i played through NF like normal until i could go to cantha, then i went there and did a bunch of 3000-4000xp quests until i reached level 20. then i played through the factions campaign and capped every elite skill along the way. that put me to survivor 2, and i got impatient and finished it off farming the vampires at urgoz.

i did it all with heroes and hench - no pugs.

In getting there, never ever fight anything. Period. There are a few things you have to fight, like the 4 bosses at the end of Sunjiang, but not many. During battles like this stay as far out of the aggro as you can and be ready to close the program if you are about to die. Have your friends or Heroes and Henchmen kill everything for you. If you are in aggro range of anything, that is very bad and you are ruining your good chance of getting the title for no reason.

Disagree that there are no skills to counter a disconnect death. The skill is called "X out of Guild Wars and close the program before the server registers your death." Although on second thought, that might not work any more due to the "reconnect" feature. Which must suck for those who didn't get the title before that came in.

It sucks, but as you say, I was playing it straight. Carefully, but playing the game. I dont want a "Sneaking around and not engaging the enemy" title.

Oh, about runes - the more health you have to begin with, the better off you are. Get a sup. vigor and only use minor runes of anything else. Runes of Vitae are also a nice little help, too.

use the little exploitable 'tricks' to help.

like what? Sometimes you just have to be in the area of a mob to get rewarded with a kill.
This is useful in someplaces like jade sea where mobs kill other mobs.

After a couple of attempts for max survivor I finally made it:

The greatest piece of advice I can give a survivor is know when you're outmatched. It can take time to realise when it is time to run. I went by the general rule of: if 1-2 party members die...and another 2-3 are at about 50% HP, it's time to get out of there.

I managed Legendary on a ranger. Half my skillbar was devoted to staying alive:

Preparation
Bow Attack
Bow Attack
Bow Attack
Hex Braker
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Storm Chaser (this one saved my ass on a good few occaisions)

I managed it in Elona very easily. Factions has a lot of Dangers if you're starting out, Prophecies (classic as it is) is SO boring and slow, Elona is a nice mix between the two, but I found going /Me to block some of the hexed form those damn plants to be a great idea.

Good luck with your title.

Edit 1: Oh yea, I know max survivor is shunned by most GW players...mine was done properly. I completed all but the last 2 -3 mission towns on each campaign, completed most side quests, and capped around 90-100 elite skills. I did not get power levelled...the sense of achievement is great knowing I didn't.

Edit 2: Oh yea, Henchmen and Heroes are your friends. Therefore Elona, I feel, is the better starting place. DO NOT Trust Humans, even monks, monks will leave you in the **** mid-mission. Play with heroes with decent set-ups, henchmen, and trusted Guild / alliance members and tell them you're going for survivor.

ummm just play the game

I almost finished factions and NF with my monk

you can even farm exp outside thiarck in NF where you pull groups of heket to the vabbian guards. Though this is very boring and is way I only got like 60k exp from it lol.

Just dont make stupid mistakes, go through the game, and you'll realize how easy survivor 3 can be.

I just got Legendary Survivor on my Paragon a few days ago. Took me roughly 5 months, but it probably would have taken less time if I'd played it more.

I got someone to ferry me so I could get max armor as soon as possible. From there on, I did every quest I could possibly get my hands on, I took bounties from every shrine, and I used scrolls for everything I did. I capped every skill I could, did every mission I felt I could safely do.

I went to Cantha and did all of the quests up until Vizunah Square and capped all of the skills up until that point, then in Nightfall I got up to the Grand Court of Sebelkeh mission and decided there wasn't any way I was going to risk doing that, so I ended up getting the last like 80k xp from going outside of Dzagonur Bastion, taking the bounty from Whispers, and killing the elementals over and over using scrolls. It wasn't exactly the most exciting thing to do, but I got that last 80xp in something like a total of 4 or 5 hours, and I have 8 rubies and sapphires to show for it along with my title.

I did 99% of all of it with heroes and henchies. There were a couple of skills I had my boyfriend help me cap with him and his heroes, like Searing Flames, Mind Burn and Spirit's Strength, and completely ignored stuff like Weapon of Fury cause that boss hurts... bad. I always flagged the heroes ahead of me so they could take first aggro, then once everything was mostly focused on all of them, I'd come in and contribute.

I have 2 legendary survivors.
1. Warrior Started in factions did ALL quests for ALL secondary professions. This is a great boost in XP and helps to level you up quick. Did every quest I could find. Moved to tyria and made my way to the trolls outside of droks and solo farmed them with xp scrolls. Dangerous but very effective. This method took 2 tries.

2. Assassin Same as above for secondary professions selected Ranger secondary after accepting reward for all other secondaries. Moved to Elona as soon as possible to get heros. Hero/henched until I got Koss back (reason for this was to cap barrage). Moved back to Cantha and hero/henched my way thru until Imperial sanctum. Grabbed a human party for that mission (This is the ONLY time that I played with other human players). Moved back to Elona, hero/henched the entire game. Moved to Tyria, hero/henched the entire game. Went to Domain of Anguish and had a hero solo trap the Stygian Veil for the remaining XP needed for legendary survivor. I played a crit barrage build almost the whole time.

The key to this title is patience. Take your time and move slowly. Avoid humans as much as possible unless you know them and you trust them with your survivor characters life. Stick with it and you will get it eventually. Good luck!

Cantha has a good pace for those wanting enough xp, it's possibly also the most dangerous continent for survivers (battle isles excluded )

Know your skills, carry a rebirth if possible, like other said do research on areas (with wiki), watch your agro, be very very afraid of rit and ele bosses.
Warrior henchman will have times that they pull to much and get you killed, but without one you'll probaly end up taking the agro and do take heroes if you can! they are way better then henchmans.

Ow and if you can go partially assasin i reccommend it, [skill]feigned neutrality[/skill] saved my arse more times then i could count.

Anf for easy exp, try out Gyala Hatchery Explorable there are always outcasts fighting the luxons and when they are killed you get xp..
